Technology builds upon itself, enabling innovative approaches within the evolution of technology. Due to rapidly increasing rates of innovation, products such as electronics and pharmaceuticals in particular are vulnerable to shorter life cycles when considered against such benchmarks as steel or paper.

As you may note, this is prior to the testing phases and therefore investors at this stage must accept the inherent risk of the new technology presenting significant hurdles to optimizing perceived potential or effective implementation.
